School summary

Bath Academy is an unusually focused independent school, taking pupils from 14 to 19 with the great majority - 76 of around 80 - already in the sixth form. This is a small, senior-stage community where almost everyone is working towards GCSEs, A-levels or the EPQ. Boarding is offered alongside day places, and the Independent Schools Inspectorate rated the school good in its most recent inspection, with all compliance standards met. Notably, 45 per cent of pupils receive SEN support, which speaks to a setting geared towards individual attention.

Where every mark matters.

Places are limited and demand is high, so exam performance is what sets candidates apart. Passmate turns the months ahead into ten focused minutes a day on the exact topics this school tests.

Teaching & academics

The curriculum is built around GCSEs and A-levels, with the option of an Extended Project Qualification for those who want to develop independent research skills. A-level choices lean strongly towards the sciences and quantitative subjects, with Psychology, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology among the most popular. The ISI judged the school good, and with so few pupils overall the teaching environment is necessarily intimate.

Watch Passmate decide how to teach.

Answer as a child would. Left: what they see. Right: what it learns about them.

A small, sixth-form-centred school under Head Mr Tim Naylor, well suited to older pupils - including those needing learning support - who thrive on close attention and a science-heavy A-level offer.

That’s where Passmate comes in. Tutoring is the most effective thing in a child’s preparation - a well-tutored child can outperform the vast majority of their peers. Passmate works alongside your tutor, not instead of them: it learns how your child thinks, finds the gaps, and shows the tutor exactly where to spend each session - so the limited time you have lands on what actually decides a place.

Works alongside your child’s tutor - not instead of them.
