Founded in 1553, Bromsgrove School is one of the older independent schools in Worcestershire, today a large mixed boarding and day community of just over a thousand pupils. Its Church of England character and broad age range allow children to progress from senior school through to a sizeable sixth form of nearly 450. The Independent Schools Inspectorate rated the school 'excellent' for both education and personal development, with all compliance standards met. Teaching & academics
Bromsgrove offers an unusually wide curriculum, including the option of the IB and BTEC alongside GCSEs and A-levels, plus the EPQ for independent research. Results are strong: 62 per cent of GCSE grades fell in the 9-7 range, while at A-level 60 per cent of entries reached A*-A and 83 per cent A*-B. The sciences and mathematics are clearly popular at both stages, and a rich modern languages offering extends to Russian and Chinese. With nearly 20 per cent of pupils receiving SEN support, the school evidently caters for a range of learning needs.
