School summary

A small independent school in North Yorkshire taking pupils from the age of two right through to 16, Cundall Manor offers both day places and boarding within a single, close-knit community of around 264 children. The Independent Schools Inspectorate rated the school 'good' overall, with personal development judged 'excellent' and all compliance requirements met. With more than a quarter of pupils receiving some form of SEN support, it is a setting where individual needs are clearly taken seriously. Led by Head Mr Simon Weale, it suits families looking for a smaller-scale environment in which children are known well.

Teaching & academics

Pupils work towards GCSEs across a broad and traditional spread of subjects, including the three separate sciences, English Language and Literature, Mathematics, History and Religious Studies. Modern languages are well represented, with both French and Spanish on offer, and more practical choices such as Business Studies and Physical Education sit alongside the academic core. The strong showing in personal development from the ISI suggests an emphasis on the whole child as well as examination outcomes.

Watch Passmate decide how to teach.

Answer as a child would. Left: what they see. Right: what it learns about them.

A genuinely all-through school where boarding and day pupils share one community, Cundall Manor will appeal to families who value being known by name over sheer size.

That’s where Passmate comes in. Tutoring is the most effective thing in a child’s preparation - a well-tutored child can outperform the vast majority of their peers. Passmate works alongside your tutor, not instead of them: it learns how your child thinks, finds the gaps, and shows the tutor exactly where to spend each session - so the limited time you have lands on what actually decides a place.

Works alongside your child’s tutor - not instead of them.
