Teaching & academics
Results at the top end are strong: 92% of GCSE grades fall between 9 and 7, and at A-level 75% of entries reach A*-A, rising to 93% at A*-B. Lower school students (first to third year) are not permitted to use mobile phones during the school day (8.15am - 3.45pm), unless given specific permission by staff in exceptional circumstances. Upper school students (fourth and fifth year) may use their phones at break and lunch in Hawkes or the learning centre for school purposes only. Sixth form students may use their phones in the sixth form café at any time. They may occasionally be used in lessons under direct instruction by the teacher as an alternative to using a laptop device.
