School summary

Distinctive among London's independent schools, Kensington Wade weaves Mandarin through daily life alongside Spanish, giving its pupils an unusually international grounding from an early age. This is a small, close-knit community of around 128 children in Hammersmith and Fulham, where a pupil-to-teacher ratio of roughly 8 to 1 allows teaching to be carefully tailored. Led by Headmaster Huw May and inspected by the ISI, it offers entry at 11+ for families drawn to its bilingual ethos. Nearly a quarter of pupils receive SEN support, suggesting a school accustomed to looking after a range of learning needs.

Teaching & academics

Languages are central here, with Mandarin and Spanish forming part of the curriculum rather than an optional extra. The generous staffing ratio of about 8 pupils per teacher means individual attention is built into the daily routine. Scholarships are reserved for children of exceptional ability, so academically strong applicants will find their talents recognised.

Watch Passmate decide how to teach.

Answer as a child would. Left: what they see. Right: what it learns about them.

A small, internationally minded school where Mandarin is part of everyday learning. Day fees reach £28,260, though a few bursaries and merit scholarships open the door a little wider.

That’s where Passmate comes in. Tutoring is the most effective thing in a child’s preparation - a well-tutored child can outperform the vast majority of their peers. Passmate works alongside your tutor, not instead of them: it learns how your child thinks, finds the gaps, and shows the tutor exactly where to spend each session - so the limited time you have lands on what actually decides a place.

Works alongside your child’s tutor - not instead of them.
