Teaching & academics

The ISI's 'excellent' judgement places the school among the strongest performers it inspects. With a pupil-to-teacher ratio of around 20, classes are larger than at some smaller preps, though the recognition for both academic quality and personal development suggests a well-rounded approach. Just under 5 per cent of pupils receive SEN support, a modest proportion in line with a selective prep environment.

Mobile phone policy

Pupils are not permitted to bring mobile phones to school and, as a school, we take the position that children should not be provided with a smartphone / internet enabled portable device while they are of primary age. Pupils in year 6 in their final term at RPPS may bring a non-internet enabled mobile device to school which is to be used purely as a means of communicating with parents that they have arrived safely. Once inside the school gates, these mobile devices should be switched off and then handed to the class teacher at morning registration. Class teachers will return the mobile devices to pupils at the end of the school day.

Watch Passmate decide how to teach.

Answer as a child would. Left: what they see. Right: what it learns about them.

A prep that pairs an 'excellent' ISI verdict with a firm, principled line on smartphones and primary-age childhood. One for families who want strong academics without the digital pressures.

That’s where Passmate comes in. Tutoring is the most effective thing in a child’s preparation - a well-tutored child can outperform the vast majority of their peers. Passmate works alongside your tutor, not instead of them: it learns how your child thinks, finds the gaps, and shows the tutor exactly where to spend each session - so the limited time you have lands on what actually decides a place.

Works alongside your child’s tutor - not instead of them.
