School summary

Founded in partnership with King's College London, this small sixth-form specialist is built entirely around mathematics and the sciences. With just 156 pupils, all of them in the sixth form, it offers an unusually focused environment for students who already know where their strengths lie. The pupil-to-teacher ratio of roughly nine to one allows for close, individual attention rarely possible in larger schools. Led by headteacher Timothy Bateup, it sits in the London Borough of Lambeth.

Where every mark matters.

Places are limited and demand is high, so exam performance is what sets candidates apart. Passmate turns the months ahead into ten focused minutes a day on the exact topics this school tests.

Teaching & academics

Results are exceptional: 93 per cent of A-level entries reach A*-A and 96 per cent A*-B, figures that place the school among the strongest performers nationally. The curriculum is deliberately concentrated, with Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics the most popular choices, alongside the EPQ for independent research. Notably, around 30 per cent of pupils receive SEN support, suggesting a setting that backs able mathematicians of varied profiles rather than a narrow academic type.

Watch Passmate decide how to teach.

Answer as a child would. Left: what they see. Right: what it learns about them.

A rare state specialist for committed young mathematicians and scientists, where small numbers and outstanding results go hand in hand.

That’s where Passmate comes in. Tutoring is the most effective thing in a child’s preparation - a well-tutored child can outperform the vast majority of their peers. Passmate works alongside your tutor, not instead of them: it learns how your child thinks, finds the gaps, and shows the tutor exactly where to spend each session - so the limited time you have lands on what actually decides a place.

Works alongside your child’s tutor - not instead of them.
