School summary

A small, single-site preparatory school of around 280 pupils, Kew Green Prep takes children from ages four to eleven in Richmond upon Thames. Founded in 2004, it is relatively young by the standards of many independent preps, yet it has earned the Independent Schools Inspectorate's top grade of 'excellent' for both education and personal development. With a pupil-to-teacher ratio of about 15 to 1, classes are reasonably intimate, and a notable proportion of pupils, close to one in five, receive some form of SEN support.

Teaching & academics

The school's 'excellent' ISI rating speaks to the quality of teaching and learning across the prep years. As a school that finishes at eleven, much of its work is geared towards preparing pupils for entry to senior schools. The willingness to support nearly 20 per cent of pupils with additional needs suggests an inclusive approach within an academic setting.

Watch Passmate decide how to teach.

Answer as a child would. Left: what they see. Right: what it learns about them.

A compact, highly rated co-educational prep for families in Richmond seeking close attention and a strong launchpad to senior school. Day fees run from roughly £23,000 to £26,000 a year.

That’s where Passmate comes in. Tutoring is the most effective thing in a child’s preparation - a well-tutored child can outperform the vast majority of their peers. Passmate works alongside your tutor, not instead of them: it learns how your child thinks, finds the gaps, and shows the tutor exactly where to spend each session - so the limited time you have lands on what actually decides a place.
